Today, a really interesting thought occured to me. The two bumbling crooks from the show of the same, along with their parrot Interpol... do they remind anybody else of Team Rocket from Pokemon? You got this bungling team of criminals in both shows, both who go out of their way to steal whatever it is they've been hired/ordered to steal- with Team Rocket, it's rare and valuable Pokemon; with V&H, it's money, jewels, or just about anything that's priceless and valuable. Both teams are very reckless and foolhardy, lack serious common sense, take huge risks, and are always devising some foolish 'master plan' (which they always assume cannot fail because they are such frigging masterminds, never learning from their mistakes) to achieve their goal, which always painfully backfires on them. Both usually use manners of disguise. Jessie/Victor: Both the leaders of their teams, both very arrogant, vain, bossy and demanding, stubborn, proud, obsessive over their appearances, and are easily prone to anger. Both are the more intelligent of their group, which isn't saying much. James/Hugo: Both can be extremely childish and immature, the dumber of the two by far. (Although James is very vain about his appearance too...) Meowth/Interpol: The wisecracking, smart-aleck, sarcastic 'mascot' of their teams, the real brains of the outfit. I briefly had a vision of Victor and Hugo doing the whole Team Rocket motto, clad in Team Rocket outfits (except with an 'N' on their shirts), concluding with "Nautiness International blasts off at the speed of light/suurender now, or prepare to fight." Interpol: *Rawk!* "That's right!" LOL I can't picture them singing, though... though wouldn't that be something. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Trz22G5KQnA&mode=related&search=

Sacre bleu, I can see the similarities!
I've been meaning to look into Victor & Hugo myself, I really want to see what Duckula looks like in it [from what I heard he and the gang make a cameo in one episode] since the cartoon seems to have improved animation. There's only like one episode that's on a compilation DVD over here, but popular demand might bring on a full series release in the future.
Just one thing though - I'm not really keen on that theme tune...doesn't seem to have the oomph the Count Duckula theme had. I love Interpol's voice though ;D

I loved the theme tune myself! Along with Duckula's Danger Mouse and Avenger Penguins (in particular the musical episode, clips of that of my YouTube site)
I also do a comic strip about a pair of criminal weasel-types and it only occored to me later that I could do a Victor & Hugo like plot for them. They're personalities are quite different though, and they aren't as stupid, nor do they own a parrot.

I love the V&H theme too; it just hit me a couple days ago that it's Victor and Hugo who are actually singing the "Victor and Hugo!" bit... I can't quite tell if they sing the whole thing.
LOL, I've been thinking of writing a short Team Rocket/V&H crossover.
Btw, I hope that Victor and Hugo have never crossed-dressed in their series... my God, the way James cross-dresses is sometimes SCARY.

They did about three times. Victor still with his moustache and Hugo with his stubble. Very convincing (!). And no matter what disguise they use they still retain their masks (kind of like Yosemite Sam) even though they would be very recognisable to even the most unobservant of crime witnesses!

Even Victor cross-dressed? Dude, wouldn't that be beneath him? Wouldn't he leave the humiliating, degrading stuff to Hugo? Btw, I hope this series does come to DVD, but I think it was one of their least-popular and most-forgotten shows ever. I heard the failure of this show is what convinced them to move on from cell-animation, or something. I don't know why people hated it so much, sheesh. In the meantime, I will wait patiently until I get the eps Gaston will be sending me, and keep checking eBay UK and Australia for eps. Now, where did my Vicky-kins go? *Victor is seen running towards the van where Hugo is waiting, away from this crazed fangirl* Start the van, Hugo!! Oh, sacred bleau, start the van! *I sneak into the back of the van, just before it drives away* Tee-hee!

They did one cel-animated show after V&H called 'Avenger Penguins' which was kind of like a cross between Danger Mouse and Count Duckula with a Ninja Turtles parody mentality thrown in. It's really worth looking for too. The full 26 episodes are on DVD. It had the voices of Mike McShane, Jimmy Hibbert, Rob Rackstraw and Lorelei King.

Ah yeah, I've seen the DVD of Avenger Penguins too, maybe one day I'll look into buying it since I like Cosgrove Hall stuff in general.
Oh man, Victor and Hugo crossdressing, that's a surefire way to make me laugh XD! Perhaps when I see more of this cartoon I'd make fanart touching the very subject!

Stace, can you reccomend a good, safe, and reliable file-sharing service? Where did you originally get your Duckula eps? There's got to be somewhere I can download this series...

All cartoon characters do it at some point or another - even Igor in 'The Great Ducktective'.
I would buy the Penguind DVD if you find it on Amazon, I watched it about 20 times! It's still funny and a nice new direction for the studio. Only downside is that Trueman or Jason are not involved, but I'm not sure the show called for them, sadly. McShane really enjoys himself as Caractacus P. Doom the over-acting villian and Hibbert reprises his Cruel (Peter Lorre) voice for Harry Slime. Any show with a couple of characters known as 'The Badly Drawn Brothers' is worth seeing!
PS: What does XD stand for?

I usually get my stuff using Bittorrent, in which one torrent usually takes me up to about a month to download! I've looked for V&H but there doesn't seem to be anything. According to Laura's site the episodes were not aired more than once, and there really aren't that many VHSs around to boot. One thing's for sure, I'm NOT paying 20 quid for a VHS XD is an emoticon Gaston, it's often used to show great laughter ;D

Yeah, I've been to that site. It really sucks- not the site, I mean, lol, but the fact that the show never aired more than once. It's really lousy it was one of their least-popular and most-forgotten shows, even to this day. I've heard it's fairly popular in Australia... actually, Gaston said he acquired his eps from somebody down there. I was checking out the Cosgrove Hall Ate My Brain forums, and I came across a topic asking if there was any plans of the show being released to DVD. Somebody had replied that they'd emailed FremantleMedia, who said that there was no plans to release the show. It really sucks, considering how they've released other Cosgrove Hall shows and all. But I guess the show's just too unpopular and/or forgotten. *sigh* Btw, Stace, what other shows- other than DM and CD- have Fremantle released? I know they've released a fair bit, right? Don't they and Cosgrove have some sort of rights contract, or something?

The only other Cosgrove Hall cartoons I believe were released by Fremantle were Chortlon & The Wheelies, Jamie and the Magic Torch and Wind In The Willows - oh, and Rainbow, which isn't really a CH production but they made the animations on it. Most of their other cartoons are available on DVD but by different publishers. Hell even Fantomcat is on DVD, and that's even lesser known than V&H!
Loads of cartoons that were aired here do end up on DVD eventually though especially if they're really famous or local, so let's keep our fingers crossed.

There are DVDs out of really obscure stuff that I've not even heard of! So why not V&H? My work colleague remembers it and I only mentioned it briefly.
She said something like 'of course it's your fault - it is always your fault!'

The really sucky thing is, FremantleMedia apparently owns the UK rights to V&H too... *screams, and throws giant Duckula-like tantrum* It's not fair! Hugo: Um, my Victor, did you just hear something from the back? Victor: Shut up and keep your eyes on the road, brain of a matchbox! Hugo: But... don't I need them in my head, so I can drive properly? Eeek! Almost blew my cover. *whispers* Seriously though, I'm going to email FremantleMedia tomorrow. For all the good it'll do; I doubt I'll even get a reply. But it can't hurt. I'll ask why they're not planning on releasing this series... if they do email me back, they'll probably there is not enough demand for this series, so they'd be losing money. Which is understandable, but Gaston did have a point- companies have been known to release really rare, obscure shows. Besides, lots of other CH shows have been released, so why not give this one a turn? AND there's the fact that an ep of V&H was actually included on that compilation DVD of various CH shows (I saw it on eBay UK), which is rather surprising since the show was such a low fanbase... *The van comes to a stop, and I can hear the doors open and close* Tee-hee... and so, like the printer, I pants! I mean... like, the panther, I pounce!
