I was recently watching an old clip of the Disney Character Ludwig Von Drake. I don't know how the rest of you all feel, but I'm convinced that when it came time to develop Goosewing the creators took a lot of ideas from Von Drake. The German accent, the absent mindedness, even the vest and coat. What do you all think?

Ludwig Von Drake! One of my favourite characters! He is more like an absentminded professor and a know-all about science. Also he is a crazy inventor. If I remember well, he is from Vienna, Austria. Like Goosewing, he is a good-hearted with bad temperament, but Von Drake is not as aggressive as VG is. Compare:

Hehe, I see the similarities, only that Von Drake is not at all hellbent on murdering an innocent vampire. *Sigh*, Von Drake always had a place in me when I used to watch all those Disney Sing along songs tapes...

'He looks a bit like....' the comment every cartoonist dreads! I've never actually seen that Disney character until recently but I never thought of Goosewing when seeing him. Notice how all the Disney bird characters are white too?
There was a goose doctor voiced by Jimmy Hibbert in the English dub of 'Millionaire Dogs' - a really awful film I saw on Cartoon Network a few times.

Ludwig Von Drake, what a nice name! I knew him only as "Pico de Paperis"! Papero is the italian name of duck; Duckula is a papero vampiro, and all the Disney characters have a papero-something name: Donald is Paperino, Daisy is Paperina, Uncle Scrooge is Zio Paperone, and so on. Not much fantasy... It is true, Dr Von Drake and Dr Von Goosewing could be cousins!

*brings back old thread* I totally thought the same thing! When I first heard Dr. Von Goosewing, I was especially struck by the similarity in their voices, and wondered if he was supposed to be inspired by him or something. Gotta love 'em both, though.

We are all of a like mind here, I swear xD Man, I love me some Ludwig Von Drake <3 I never thought much of the similarities up to now though xD Like, it had crossed my mind before (Mostly in that they're both a bit stricken with inflated-head disease, lol ) I could totally see that though - "Sheer Genius I am beingk!" - Goosewing "No no no, boy, I am the expert!" -Ludwig Von Drake -commence genius fight-

And lol seriously at the thought of that argument... It's so true! I wish we could have seen them interact for real some time, haha.

I can definitely see where you would get this from, and the many similarities that they share; but I don't feel that Disney stole the ideas (unlike many of their other creations *coughKimba*cough* but I certianly see where you could get this from.
I would also love to add that Ludwig is one of my favorite characters of all time, hands down.

Oh, there's no way Disney could have stolen from CH -- Ludwig has been around since the 60's (at least), and Goosewing has only been around since '88. If anything, it would be the other way around. But I doubt they stole from Disney as well. They're too talented, imho.

Goosewing's kinda a combination of Ludwig Von Drake and Elmer Fudd, at least IMO. LOL!

Like most all people here, I LOVE Ludwig Von Drake. An absolute genius had to devise this genius character.
