Duckula is not a normal vampire, as we know. And, according to myths, only two things can totally kill them- a stake through the heart or exposure to sunlight. We know that the sun has no affect on him, most likely due to his messed-up transformation... which, I always believed, has allowed him a small piece of mortality.
So, my point is, is being staked all that Duckula really has to worry about? (A supporting arguement for this is that Igor never seems particularly worried for his master when he is in other kinds of danger). Or not? He's had a ton of seemingly near-death experiences throughout the series, not counting Goosewing. And he's always terrified of getting killed. Now it does seem that, half the time, he forgets that he's a vampire (immortal, for the most part), but regardless- his abnormality has definitely allowed him to be immune to the sun, like any mortal being or creature, but perhaps that part of mortality he gained was enough so that he is fully able to die all the same ways any mortal can too.
Thoughts? I really do not know.

I think vampires in folklore have no problems with sun, especially if they are strong vampires. Duckula maybe one of them.
As a vampire, he can live for centuries but he can be indeed destroyed (thanks that there is Igor to bring him back). And yes, he is like forgetting (or at least, pretending he forgets) he is a vampire and he runs when he can just *puff* disappear!
Is like if the failed ritual brought him back to life, along with more mortal-like emotions, such as fear.

First of all, I have to second what Lourdes said regarding vampires and the sun - in fact, in the original novel Dracula, he's seen wandering around during daylight more than once. I think it was actually the film Nosferatu that started the whole sun-kills-vampires thing. We do see the great-grandfather have issues with it, and even Duckula when he's under Goosewing's potion. So maybe it is because of his transformation glitch, or like Lourdes said - Duckula may be a stronger vampire in his current incarnation. I think the fear thing is often played up more for comic relief than anything, but I think that if I were immortal I would often still feel fear in perilous situations. Just because he can't die doesn't mean he can't feel pain.

Yes, but Duckula perhaps overreacts because he is not aware of his vampire powers.
About the sun thing, I believe it all started in 1922 with Nosferatu. It could be the show writers used the sun-vampire into dust routine just for comic results as well.
I really wish that the Duckula that turned dust due sun exposure to be another reincarnation, other that isn't the great-grand father. This way, the great-grandfather would be destroyed by Gosling, like we see during the intro of the cartoon series.

I was also wondering about this the other day when I rewatched my Count Duckula DVDs.
As Duckyboos is a normal vampire that is a vegetarian, he only has a few things to fear. Like being staked, holy water and silver. Yet, he's afraid of being killed by things that could kill us mortals.
It is possible that since he was reincarnated differently that his ancestors, he might not even see himself as a vampire because of it. True, he does know how to teleport and all; yet he doesn't use his powers to their fullest potentional.
