I'm sure we all know of this, and I think we should pay our respects. Even if it is just on here, and some of us may not have liked him. RIP Michael Jackson, to the man who we all know brought us the world-famous 'Thriller' and various others. In all honesty, he put on marvellous shows and music, but I believe he was a damaged and unhappy soul. His music was probably the only thing that made him truly one hundred percent happy. To Mr Jackson- the king of pop.

Seconded. The death of celebrities doesn't usually faze me (I don't know them personally, after all) but Michael Jacksons has. Beyond all the controversy, the weirdness, the rumors, the truth, the man is an absolute legend. I have always been very fond of him, even when his skin was pale white and his multiple nose jobs, everything, I always thought he was cool.
His legend will live on, I have little doubt. Hopefully society will recall him more for his status as the King of Pop, as he truly deserves it - in my humble opinion.

Heh wow, I /would/ have to go & do art referencing someone right before they die huh Guess maybe I'll hold off on posting that John piece. { But eesh yeah.. the news of this just makes me so sad. Controversy or not, the man was just amazing at what he did. Such an incredibly gifted performer & such a huge huge loss to the music & dance world. At least in my own opinion. But yeah, no matter what, I don't think there's any denying how unbelievably talented he was. I doubt there would ever be another like him. And I know what you two mean. I'm also pretty meh on celebrity deaths but like you two this just really hit me too. His music was just such a huge part of my childhood. Especially the moonwalk. God back then there wasn't a single kid in my school who wasn't doing that. And the same with singing Beat It.. Just ugh.. such a shame it had to end this way for him. He influenced so many people not including so much of what music even is today..

That was so totally one of the first things that crossed my mind xD I was like 'aww, damn, John! We were totally just making fun of that!' But hey, at least it wasn't just us, Dan did it too, lol But yeah, the moonwalk, same here. Even a decade later, American youths were banging out to it. I ah, I actually performed Thriller back in my early high school days, the dance, singing and all, with my chorus class. It was epic to say the least x) Then I had to do a piece all by myself where I stood in front of the audience and discussed the history of Michael Jackson and his influence on music. Those were the days. But man, he was only 50. That's so young D: He, and Farrah Fawcett and Ed McMahon, man, three really famous people dead in three days, it's kinda creepy.

I can think of at least five famous people that have died this year alone, but the death of MJ has caught me off guard.
Anyone ever watched the movie Moonwalker? Now THAT was the biggest association between Michael and my childhood. It wasn't exactly top notch since it was like half music videos, half cheesy save-the-children plot, but man we used to watch that over and over again when we were like, really little; the part with the rabbit guy was awesome! I think my sister has it on DVD. I'll ask her if I can borrow it...
I'll have to be honest though, I was no major fan of much of his music... apart from this track, with awesome music video to boot.

Argh this disgusts me! My mother was at work today and Michael Jackson came up, of course. My mother said that it was a tradegy, his dying. One of the women she'd been talking to flatly said 'I'm glad he's dead. Now he can't molest those poor little boys anymore' WHAT THE HELL. My mother was quite affronted and blatantly told/insulted her 'That's not a very Christian thing to say!" Why is it an insult? The woman who said that is going to college to become a Youth Minister :/ How horrible, what a nasty thing to say!
I hate people sometimes, I really do. For the most part though, everything I've seen has been more in memorial for his massive influence on music. Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I don't fault anyone if they dislike him, but being glad he'd died? How harsh >:/

People were the same when Jade Goody died, being glad that she's dead and everything. :/ Of course there'll be really tasteless jokes regarding their personal lifestyles [I've picked up at least three about MJ now] but that's what happens.

The people who make up these tasteless jokes are obviously incredibly sad individuals, with no life of their own. The media of course, are making as much out of this tragic event as possible. I just hope to God his family are left to grieve in peace.

I am also quite sad about Michael Jackson's passing.
That morning, when I just got up to get ready for work, my mom switched the tv on. When the newcaster said that Michael Jackson passed away, I was shocked out of my sleepymode. It was so unexpected.
What really got my goat would be the tasteless jokes that was spread around the internet/ cellphon network on the day MJ passed away.
R.I.P., Michael. I always loved your songs. They're well-done, and one can tell you really poured your soul into them.
