So I was watching The Rest is History (again) the other night. It has occured to me even since the first time I saw it though, that wow, Duckula is really seriously desperate to end everything.
I mean, maybe he didn't consider this (not exactly known to have the most rational of thoughts) But if he went back in time and prevented the first Count from being bitten by the bat, that should pretty much negate his own existence. And that of Nanny and Igor, most likely, come to think. Well, Nanny anyways. Igor undoubtedly would have managed, I'm sure.
Thoughts anyone? As always, Duckula is deeper than it looks, especially for a 'kids' show.

Juno: yes, the current Duckula would really love to not to be a vampire, these ideas inspired me in my two stories, like if being a vampire is no more than a curse for the Count, an horrible one I think!
And, very much agreed with your 'Reunion' fic, destroying the Count would be not enough... You know what I mean.

I'm inclined to say that this was an issue that Duckula simply hadn't thought all the way through. I think he's too egotistical to actually want to end his life. I also think that, given the state of the portraits at the end before they changed back, he may have thought that if the original Duckula had never become a vampire, then he would have been born normally instead. But in general, I think this is a case of someone somewhere not thinking things through all the way, be it Duckula himself, or the writer of the episode.

Oh, you mean the Count would end his own life?!
No, I don't think so. Also it only would serve to Igor's plans: if the current Count is destroyed, well, we can bring him back, this time the way it should have been...
