So like, the other day I was in town, and I saw a couple of workmen taking down the sign off of our Pizza hut. I knew exactly why they did this, it's because they're changing it to Pasta Hut.
Now, I know they mean well as far as promoting healthy eating is concerned, and obesity is on the increase here, but if they're conna call Pizza Hut Pasta Hut, they may as well call Burger King Salad King or something. Is this just a UK thing, or are they doing it worldwide?
It's not like I even go there that much anyway [though I really like it], these days you'd have to be stinking rich to eat at Pizza Hut every day, even a little margherita is pricey compared to McDonalds large fries. And besides, pasta isn't that healthy really, especially the plain type, it's one of those foods that are kinda so-so.
This name change is a big waste of money in my opinion. :/ Your thoughts?

Pizza isn't terribly unhealthy anyway, apart from the cheese. If you have meat, veg and tomato as toppings, what's so unhealthy about that? And bread is not THAT bad for you. Basic foodstuff really. I don't think Pizza Hut is that expensive really, they do good meal deals there so I go fairly regularly (although an 'individual' is too small and a 'medium' is too big) I agree with your sentiment though, 'politcal correctness gone mad' as they say. I like to believe I'm intelligent enough to eat and drink reasonably healthily and if I become an alcoholic, artery-clogged, nicotene-ridden, heart-attack merchant, it's my own fault.
BTW I absolutley LOVE the internet abbreviation of WTF! ;D

hehe I never even knew of this, how did you find out Stacey? it is pretty stupid thats for sure, its always been Pizza Hut, you cant just change it to Pasta Hut. Its like changing Mcdonalds to Mcdouglas or whatever...all those yrs and their history changed just like that.

@ Nightwalker: My sister told me. It's already been done in Lakeside. @ Gaston: Well there are healthier pizzas around with less fat, salt etc, like these ones we get from ASDA. For some reason though I stopped enjoying them, they seemed to have put more cheddar cheese on and less vegetables. :/ The cheese on Pizza hut ones I don't mind, though I love it with red onion embedded in. When we ever order pizza [and it's not so much these days, even Indian is quite costly now] my dad likes the meat feast but god the SMELL! D= When I last went to London, we went to the Pizza Hut in Covent Garden and had like the all you can eat buffet, and it came to about £50 for 6 of us, including desserts. I suppose it's not bad really, since a small pizza is £3.99, but these are big slices we're talking about. Wow, can't believe I talk so much about my preferred fast food chain. xD

What the heck?? This is new to me!! Pasta hut doesn't have the same ring to it, though... but lol @ salad king!! Still, does anyone know anymore about this? And is the main feature of the Pizza/Pasta Hut menus going to be pasta? There isn't THAT much you can do with pasta...!! Still, this is ludicrous. Changing the name of the place isn't really going to stop obesity. lol, loves Pizza Hut too much...

I normally love Pizza Hut and I am still to try Pasta Hut, as I love pasta as well. The normal pasta is ok health wise but if you eat wholewheat pasta it does provide fibre, so I suppose it would contribute something to healthy eating. I never eat white pasta anymore so if I go to Pasta Hut, I will see if they have any brown pasta.

I totally agree that things are really getting out of hand.
I am quite a health nut (thanks to good ol' Mom), and I really don't see anything wrong with the name Pizza Hut. Changing it to Pasta Hut is very silly. I mean, does the name change automatically make you want to buy pasta? No, you'll still go there and order what you've always ordered before the name change.
Anyways, it is just my humble opinion on this matter.
