We've seen glimpses of proper vampire ducks throughout the show, on still-frames and in action. I don't really find the wider family of the Duckulas scary but then again I don't think they were ever meant to be.
From what I've seen, there are three practical examples of the truly frightening nature of the Count (and they all appear in the first series!)
*The stone replica in 'One Stormy Night' *Duckula's turn as a proper vampire in 'Dr Goosewing and Mr. Duck' *Duckula's great-grandfather in 'Dear Diary.'
Now, it is pretty hard as all three were kinda spooky but I think the scariest had to be Duckula's great-grandfather. Gosh, does he ever give me the creeps! Attention was really made to detail - the colouring, the music, the voice and the eyes (especially the way the pupils shift ever so slightly while Igor is talking to him after opening the coffin up; the vampire is keeping perfectly trained on his subject and it's wonderfully scary). The bloodlust is also clear during the struggle with Gosling. A truly charming, chilling, deadly and dangerous portrayal.
As I said above, all three incarnations were creepy but I think if I had to make a choice regarding the least scary, it would be the stone replica. Don't get me wrong, his pyscho tendencies make him a great villain - he takes great delight in trying to kill Goosewing and his ghastly suggestions are really to flinch at. But I think he becomes a little less scary when he's imitating Duckula, pretending to be his reflection - although he starts to make up for that when he tries to kill Duckula. Also, his voice isn't that much different from the present Duckula's. Really, in appearance and personality, he's Duckula's evil twin!

His ancestors in 'The Rest is History' are quite eerie too, especially the knight.

I completely forgot to include those! I've only seen that episode twice though... but yes, the knight is pretty eerie. The one who tries to drink the queen's blood is like Duckula but with fangs.

Duckula's stone replica was very cruel, I must say, but he lacks on elegance. He was a simple psycho.
Now, Duckula's great grandfather, is different... He was delightfully evil, smart, sophisticated, with a gently voice... Yes, he was a gentleman.
So, for me, this is the scariest of Duckula's incarnations.

Yeah, the stone-replica was just really horrid - pretty much everything that Duckula hates; everything he could be if he was full of malice as the replica maintained that youthful edge that Duckula had.
I think Duckula as a proper vampire was really creepy. He became something really freaky and you can't help feeling glad that he's not really like that. Not THE scariest 'proper' vampire on the show, but still extremely threatening.

I personally found the Count Duckula in "Dear Diary" quite spooky. Sure, he's an elegant gentleman but so is the famous Count Dracula, and we all know his bloodlust and evilness, hm?
The stone replica was a bit spooky when it came to his attempts on killing Goosewing, but some scenes made me not take him so seriously. I mean, he stood tip-toe and covered himself with his cape to make himself look taller and menacing. I just found that unintentionally funny. The "mirror" scene made him look very goofy as well.
When the current Count became a vampire, he was also quite spooky. Especially considering the fact he's usually so sweet and innocent.

The 'Dear Diary' Duckula was pretty vicious and bloodthirsty if you ask me. He was a proper vampire and liked to drink from strangers who fell apon the Castle....Igor was also quite un-nerving as his wicked butler and accomplice. The whole sequence was almost above a childs level.

The Count's Great Grand-Father, for me. Something about his gentlemanly demeanor- I'd say he was a perfect mix of arisocrat and bloodthirsty demon- made him all the more creepy. I think it was because it was very reminisant of the classic Dracula himself; b/w background background, and all.

Even though this thread is about the scariest Count Duckula, I believe that the root of the evil is the scariest: Igor.
The Rest is History episode is what really got me. I mean, we all knew Igor was way more evil than Duckula in the present could ever even nightmare of being. But this episode really set it in stone. I mean, what could be scarier than the catalyst that started EVERYTHING? Without Igor Castle Duckula probably wouldn't even be inhabited today. There would be no vampire terror of Translyvania, hell, Goosewings life would completely different. If you look at it like this, Igor basically changed the entire course of history as the series knows it.
Especially when Igor of the past switched the bats. It gave me the shivers! I guess because I could envision how genuinely horrifying it must have been for the original Count. He was a friendly vegetarian as well, and can you picture your own nice, calm little pet suddenly turning vicious on you, and tearing into your neck? For some reason it just came really graphically into my head, and it was REALLY disturbing.
So yeah. Igor is my ultimate favorite of the series, and for me, genuinely kinda frightening.
On a more thread specific note, I agree with everyone else - The Great Grandfather Duckula is definitely the creepiest! He and Igor make more than a menacing pair if you ask me!

I agree that the stone replica was too comical to be afraid of, and Duckula's bout as a "real" vampire was more fun for the "what if" factor for me. I definitely find the great grandfather the scariest. The whole sequence - nay, the whole episode has become one of my favorites. I've said it before, but I still think the great grandfather is one of the best adaptions of Dracula I've ever seen.
