So tonight it is Halloween: how are you going to celebrate? In my country there is no tradition about it ...this evening I am going out for a simple dinner with some friends, and nothing else; maybe when I come home I 'll watch one of my horror movies dvd!

I'm going over to a friend's house in about an hour. She'll be a ghost for the day and I'll be a vampire. I'm guessing we'll be decorating her place and eating lots of unhealthy stuff and lighting candles and scaring ourselves and each other. This isn't a very popular tradition here either, but I think that's mainly because people think Halloween is simply an American invention that makes you buy lots of things that you don't actually need and that allows kids to egg your house. I've realized that it's a very common misconception, especially in a small town like this one, where nothing ever really happens anyway. It's gotten so commercialized.

I do not think I will be doing much for Halloween. I will probably just curl up with some comfort food (mostly chocolate lol) and watch a horror film or something. We actually call it guising here and you normally have to recite a funny poem or joke instead of just saying 'trick or treat'. No offence to anyone here but it just seems that they have stopped the old tradition in my country and it has been taken over by the American style. Happy Halloween anyway! ;D

I've spent most of the night in bed with a stinking cold. God it was horrible, my head pounded every time I laid down, I felt like chucking up the small amounts of food I ate [didn't though, thank god], and I was shivering and everything. It's been about 2 years since I last had one, and I've forgotten just how bad everything tastes [apart from orange lollipops]. I just hope I don't get sinusitis or whatever it was that made my nose hurt like hell. Even if I was right as rain I wouldn't have done anything like dressing up anyway, Halloween is just an average day for me.

Stacey, there's been a lot of that going about here recently too, me, my dad and brother all had it pretty bad. All I could eat was orange juice - even water wouldn't stay....anyway. I went to a concert by a band the members of whom (all in fancy dress) were friends of my workmate who went as a witch. I as you know had to take my butler along with me....

Mr Igor, congrats to your sewing skill! The mask is perfect! However, I am sorry for the family disease...welcome back to the world!

That's actually a pretty good costume Gaston! I've seen a few Duckula ones over the internet in my time and they were just bad. Even the official Duckula costume looked scary.

I stuck a pillow up my back for the hunch - fortunately Igor's hands a flesh-coloured anyway. It was tricky but not impossible to see - I used tights for the pupils and strenched thm a little to as to see through them. ONE person recognised who I am and wanted a hug. I complied but responded in my best deadpan 'I don't DO 'hugs' milord....'
Also, if I wanted, I could simply remove the mask and hunch and still look 'normal'!

Thank you - I was pleased at the result myself. Came out better than I'd hoped for! I used stiff fabric (like one would use for a collar or cape collar:) ) for the beak and painted it, giving it a nice....beaky effect! And also painted the bald head to make the pink felt more old and a deeper pink.

The costume is great Gaston, good stuff! ;D Stacey: My deepest sympathies, I hope you get over that dreaded fiend we call the cold. It's such a nuisance.

I'm well over the cold now apart from a little cough here and there, but thanks anyways.
