Whenever you watch cartoons, are there any little-yet-significant bits of realism to the characters that you appreciate, things that just make the characters that much more believable and realistic? Such as body-language, certain patterns or nuances to their speech, etc.
One huge thing I make a habbit of spotting is blinking patterns. I enjoy seeing a character blinking at regular intervals, just like any normal person would- not too much, nor too little. Especially when that character is not even speaking, at that. I imagine it must be extra work for the animators for each frame, but it makes it that much more less stiff and cardboard-like, you know?

I always liked the 'Count Duckula' blinks.
