As for Transformers, I used to watch that loads too, loved the one that turned into a tape (or was it a beatbox?? ) but alas hollywood is yet again raping my childhood and is CGI-ing Transformers (I hear alot about it as some guy in my class just wont shut up about it (I'm doing a BA in Digital Art so as you can imagine theres a lot people who love 3D) saying how great it is that their remaking it, he also loved the Turtles film (the story line was good but the art style was whack)) how long til Duckula gets a 3D movie!

zackly, especially if they make it all cutesy, so cute that even tremendous terence fears him, mind you I would love to see a new darker duckula (have to be hand drawn) where he has more a struggle with vampirism.
but if a duckula cgi blockbuster was released would you go see it? I imagine that duckula would look something like staceys drawing of the count holding a tomato (cant remember what its called), I'd probly just buy out all the merchandise, talking of which i really want a duckula t-shirt, but the only ones i find are cheap self made ones on ebay, was there any clothing released??

There was back in the early 90's. Right now I'm aware of caps, pyjamas and t-shirts. And once - I don't know if it was a bootleg or not - I saw a girl's leotard from a German seller on eBay [Jano, do such items of clothing exist there?]! But yeah, I hate all those bootleg items, I once bought one of Rude Dog on my sister's behalf, and much later she thought it was crap [as did I, LOL]. Although it's pretty unlikely that there'd be a CGI movie, considering Duckula isn't as popular as say Spiderman, if there was, yeah, they'd put a LOT of detail in, from eye colour right down to feathers. Personally though I think it would be awesome if they did it in 2D with all that shading they have in such movies. And perhaps there'd be a chance for us to have proper action figures ;P If anything though, they'd probably make one about Dangermouse first.

Well they cocked up Garfield in every way imaginable. Oh yeah, that movie was downright horrible. I really bloody hope Hollywood doesn't touch either DM OR Duckula

I think that a Duckula movie, if ever released, would be issued only in DVD for the home video, as many (horrible and scary ) sequels of old Disney glories are available in shops now. And about the merchandising...I would be satisfied with a beautiful T-shirt!

Well they cocked up Garfield in every way imaginable. true, most 3D films based on 2D animation tend to be horrible, but I suppose thats cos we prefer the animation still we are used to seeing the characters in, but I'd say that 3D only really works for stuff like shrek and Final Fantasy: Advent Children.

*pictures a 3-D Duckula film, then locks herself in the bathroom for the next hour, where sounds of retching can be loudly heard* I think Duckula is just one of those things strictly left in the era it was born in, for its own sake. Seriously. 'Nuff said, period, thank you, the end, goodbye! *ducks back in bathroom* (1) The new VAs would probably suck (though, I think Patrick Stewart, a.k.a Captain Picard, would be a good Igor). (2) You just know how Hollywood would completely water down the show's British origins, and give it a much more American feel. Voices, humor, references, etc... it's overall charm would be lost. (3) The show's mock-dark/horror-like tone would be completely watered-down, or done away with altogether (thus destroying the significance of Igor's role- not to mention, him and the Count's relationship- making him PURELY a stuffy, boring old butler). There would probably be NO mention of blood, even. GOD... if they were to ever do a DM movie, it would either be CGI or even- God help us all- a REAL-LIFE mouse and hamster as DM and Penfold, and all the rest of the regular characters would be real-life humans. A live-action Victor and Hugo film though, now that would be fine. (All the misc. characters would be humans, of course!)

Victor & Hugo could work! The Garfield film not only cocked up because it was 3d/Live action, but they completely messed-up the characters' personalities. And why the blue blazes was Nermal a mentally-reterded siamese cat and not a nuaseatingly cute kitten like he's supposed to be?!?!?!?
In 'ye olde days' animation was all cel because that's all that was on offer for the most part. Now we have computers, they dominate. The powers that be should embrace the fact that they now have the CHOICE instead of automatically using computers for EVERYTHING. It's like going into a cafe and ordering a coffee. 'A coffee sir? No-one drinks that anymore. Have a fraappa-chappa mocha latte instead - it's very fashionable. And that's ALL you're getting!'

Oh no, Gaston don't say that! I love computers but not in animation like Count Duckula that is so artistic! Oh, I miss the good old days!

I'm not agreeing with it, it's just the way the wind blows nowadays - computers or nothing. And some TERRIBLE drawings. A lot of cartoonists nowadays seem unable to distiguish from stylised and bad.
