This is something I have pondered on occassion... and I know it may sound crazy at first, but just bear with me.
Since Igor has tried everything in his power to return his Master to his roots, to no luck, do you think he would take the ultimate alternative? In other words, kill him? Maybe poison his food or drink, or stake him when he's asleep?
Why, you ask? Not because Duckula is a disgrace to the family name, so much (it wouldn't be like with his relatives- who Igor strongly hinted would deem such shameful treachery as deserving no less than the penalty of death), but because this way, Igor would be granted the chance to do things right the next time it came to perfrom the once-a-century reincarnation ritual. This time, he would perform the ritual entirely by himself, so Nanny couldn't mess it up. I rather think, however, that Igor would feel a deep sense of guilt and remorse for destroying his Master, especially when he's the one who's supposed to protect him from harm. A large part of him would feel like he's commiting a horrible act of treason... but then, on the other hand, he would be doing it FOR the sake of his 'poor, 'misled, 'igornant' master- who, in a large sense, doesn't know any better because of how he was accidentally re-created. So, Igor might feel that he'd be setting him free, that his ghastly ways have been nothing more than a curse on him, more or less. This way, honor would eventually be restored to the Duckulas.
However, being his long-time faithful servant- and even father-figure, in a way- I think Igor would probably deem it most honorable to destroy him himself, rather than by any other means or person. (Besides, forget the fact that Goosewing is far too incompetent, but Duckula has always avoided a number of near-death experiences- either due to his own crazy luck, or by either Nanny or Igor helping him.)
It's actually something I want to write a short fic on... and I may, after I finish the Duckula fic I'm already working on, "Alive As Me."
So, any thoughts?

I think Igor would probably feel that killing his master, even to ressurrect him again, would be wrong. He'd just stick it it out until Duckuls 'died' naturally. Also, if he had no qualms about killing his master, there would be no TV show!

Do not subestimate Goosewing, he could be really dumb, but he is still the honourable vampire hunter in this show. It is always wise to respect your enemy… or I should say antagonist in this case. In a story I had thought about after seeing ‘A Family Reunion’, I got uncle Vlad realizing that Duckula wasn’t a proper vampire, well he didn’t realized, it was Igor who told him about the “tomato ketchup incident”. Instead of killing him, Vlad decided the only way to save Duckula from his disgraceful fate was to bite him. That made Duckula to begin his transformation into a complete vampire. However, I can imagine Igor becoming very tired of trying everything to change his Master, and thus, having to destroy him (for his own good). Perhaps Igor could do this when the time gets close to the right date to perform the reincarnation ritual.

In that episode, he never actually used tomato ketchup, but it was funny as Igor enjoys a rare respite mainkg his master squirm a little as he offers him the glasses of blood!
''Oh thank you Igor - thank you so very much!''

And that's a brilliant theory about his relatives; I can't believe I never thought of that! Yes, I think if Igor were to explain the truth to Duckula's kinsfolk, I think they would agree that his lack of evil and bloodlust is not his fault at all. (After all, it's not like he was re-born a proper vampire, and THEN freely chose to go against his otherwise-natural instincts.) So, instead of being all like "KILL THE TRAITOR, HE MUST BE PUNISHED!" like they would originally have reacted, I agree- they would probably deem it most prudent and merciful to remedy the unfortunate situation by transforming him back into the natural Prince of Darkness he was all throughout his line of forebears. And yeah, I'm glad you understand! Igor would not do it out of spite, but acting soley in the best interests of his Master. It's kind of like how a parent will punish their child, and go "This hurts me more than it does you"... only Igor's actions wouldn't be really a punishment, as such. In his eyes, the Count is horribly trapped, fighting and torn against Evil and Good, a true vampire deep-down desperately wanting to surface and break free.

I like Igor so much that I think that he would never kill Duckula by himself; in the episode "Dr. Goosewing and Mr. Duck" when he comes back normal and realizes what he was doing with a stake and a hammer he is so shocked!
Maybe, when he is tired, he can be disappointed in some occasion in which the count escapes from death by pure luck...

Has anyone ever seen 'Yes Minister' and/or 'Yes Prime Minister'? Igor has a one or two similarities with Sir Humphrey Appleby on occassion I've thought. The sneakiness and advantage-taking-ness. That and the loyalty of Jeeves from 'Jeeves and Wooster.'

Yes, I agree with Raine, Igor is very loyal but opportunistic. More like he would destroy his Master if the opportunity is set. Also, I totally echoing Raine in what she said about your fanfics Shy! Please write your story, I would be more than pleased on read it! ;D And Raine, your fanart is great! You two do an awesome job. Gaston: 'Yes Minister' is a movie?

Lourdes: No, it was a BBC sitcom set in the Houses of Parliment. It starred Jim Hacker MP, a minister of a fictional department striving to 'do good' for the country (and of course get his face on the telly at every available opportunity) but his plans were half the time thwarted by his civil servant colleague, Sir Humphrey, who always saw 'the greater good'. Hacker eventually b=made the accession to No. 10 and the series continued as 'Yes, Prime Minister' And there was always silly word-play with Humphrey's '50 posh words where 3 simple ones will do attitude' and Bernard's (Hacker's aide) pedantic disection of various misquotes.
It may seem a little dry at first viewing, but give it a chance. If nothing else it's a good education on the British government. And it is a bit 'Duckula-ish' as well, not least of all because the cast are all vey well-dressed!

Despite how sneaky Igor is when it comes to his methods of turning Duckula into a true vampire, I doubt he would ever destroy him in order to fulfill his desire.
It is his duty to protect and serve all the Count Duckulas, no matter what.
On the other hand, there is a possibilty he would destroy the count. Not out of spite, but because he believed he is doing it for his master's own good.

You know, speaking of Jeeves and Igor, I wrote a story on the two of them recently as a request. Anyone want to read it?

I just thought of something. Do you think that Igor would be afraid that he'd mess up the attempt to destroy him, if he ever did try killing Duckula? Like do you think that he would be afraid that he'd accidentally destroy Duckula for good instead of just to where he can be reincarnated? Does that make any sense to anyone?
