Ok, I am at work and very bored...what are your very favourite episodes of Duckula? The ones you consider the best, for any possible reason? Here is my list:
1. Dear Diary - because of the flashback, and the possibility to see a real vampire in action! 2. Dr Goosewing and Mr Duck - good Igor's hair in ringlet is sufficient to make me love this ep! 3. One stormy night - the presence of the evil count... 4. The count and the pauper - lovely plot, despite an horrible end. 5. All in a fog - I want to play Duckula's orgue!!! 6. The hunchbudgie of Notre Dame - because it is set in Paris! 7. Fright at the Opera - see n. 6 8. Town hall terror - italian burocracy is the same! 9. Family reunion - Per ardua ad sanguina 10. No sax please we are Egyptian - it is perfect!

In no particular order-
1. Ducknapped - I say old boy! What a farce 2. Arctic Circles - Classic well-rounded story 3. No Yaks Please We're Tibatean - watching it a lot recently 4. One Stormy Night - excellent character-driven plot 5. Hi-Duck - just very funny! 6. Manhattan Duck - He was American Milord.... 7. Mobile Home - so many great 'bits' in this one. 8. No Sax Please We're Egyptian - well it's the definative episode 9. Whodunnit? - Agatha Christie p'@%-take or what? 10. The Ghost Of McCastle McDuckula - brilliant performances all round and - I'm Scottish y'kein?

I don't like choosing either, d'oh! Ah well, in no order...
1. Dr Goosewing and Mr Duck - I just loved how they reversed Igor's personality...
2. The Count and the Pauper - I don't like the ending either, but I still thought it was a great episode especially on those "I'm livin out here on Maggots Farm" scenes.
3. Alps-A-Daisy - It was nice to see Duckula achieve something for once, even though it was accidental! I loved all the Nanny fangirls reciting her phrases too. 4. The Hunchbudgie of Notre Dame - awesome pun, loved the poor little Quasimodo budgie and it was also Gaston & Pierre's first appearence.
5. Restoration Comedy - From the Laurel & Hardy parodies to the chase scene, and for some reason I really liked the scene where Duckula wanted to know why his servants were on strike.
6. Dr Von Goosewing's Invisable Ray - I loved there scene where his pants fell down, and when the ray kept mixing everyone up - then there's Nanny singing "Here comes the bride!" That was hilarious!
7. The Fright of the Opera - Mi mi mi mi mi. You You You You You! xD! This episode I liked for that scene alone.
8. Transylvanian Take Away - Loved the chinese guard saying "Goody goody gum drops" and that scene where Duckula was enjoying his meal.
9. The Zombie Awakes - While I don't think it should have been the last aired episode, I loved all the dream scenes.
10. The Rest Is History - It's always interesting to see some kind of Duckula's origins [must be linked to how I loved the SatAM episode "Blast to the Past"], and the first Duckula was so well mannered. Also, the queen calling a banana a carrot XD!

Why does no-one like the ending to 'The Count and the Pauper'? 99% of the episodes end on a depressing note anyway.

In no particular order, my very fave eps and scenes:
- Hardluck Hotel (Duckula switching back-and-forth between the roles of all those different staff, plus the manager is just so delightfully smart-aleck!)
- The Hunchbudgie of Notre Dame (Gaston and Peirre's first appearance, and all their lines and scenes together are just so brilliant; I can't even pick a particular favorite part! And the "The bells! The bells! THE BELLS!" and "And DON'T call me 'Hunchy-boos again!" lines also cracked me up.)
- Dr. Goosewing and Mr. Duck (It's jaw-droppingly HILARIOUS to see the gang assume opposite personalties; Duckula was teh sexy as a true vampire, while Igor was downright freaky! My fave lines are "That's the stuff, Igor, baby; give it to him good!" and Duckula's reaction to Nanny's new-found intelligence, unable to take any more strangeness by then: "AHH! Everyone 'round here's loopy, loony, loco!" Oh, and his jumbled 'explanation' of the series of events to poor, confused Nanny, LOL!)
- Dr. Von Goosewing's Invisible Ray (Goosewing had some great lines in this one, and his anger and annoyance towards 'Heinrich' was hilarious!)
- Dear Diary (It was awesome to see a flashback of Goosewing and Duckula's anncestors, and how the two clans became sworn enemies from perhaps the start. It was also cool to see an actual example of a 'true' Duckula, and a typical evening for him/them; it was also interesting to note Igor's relationship with his old master.)
- Fright at the Opera (darkest ep, IMO. I also love the Phantom and Cruel; the Phantom is just downright sexy, while ya gotta feel so sorry for the poor, lovable little lackey. "Cruel... what are you?" "A stupid, useless, bungling, idiotic, fatheaded dolt, Master?" I just love the Evil Master/Submissive, Underdog Servant relationship between them. Plus, it was cool to see Cruel's more psychotic side, even if just a hint.)
- Mysteries of the Wax Museum (I just love Matrix, voice, personality, and all; a typical 'evil genius-type! Even more, I love Duckula's robotc double- I love how his voice mechanism is messed-up, causing him to always stutter, and my fave scene is when he rebels against Matrix and walks out on him! Actually, the Robot Duckula character really inspired me; see the first- and only, for now- part of my story, "Alive as Me.")
- Alps-a-Daisy (Gaston and Peirre, duh; as always, those two are awesome together- and I loved how Nanny was tormenting the pair later, especially poor Gaston! And it was so awesome to have everything actually going right for Duckula for once, even if his so-called winning streak was all sheer accident.)
- Vampire Vacation (That Don Diego is such a fun, crazy dude; I love his seemingly-'innocent' nature mixed with his psychopathic antics!)
- In Artic Circles (Jives just ruled. I love how he goes from being all downright humble, subserviant, and a suck-up, to dangerously TICKED when he realized he wasn't getting paid. The sudden change in his personality was like lightening; his accent even changed. Amd I love the whole "You ghastly little bounder! Where's me fish!" scene. "You horrible, idle object! Bring me fish, lots of fish!" And I love how he mistakes Duckula for a fish at first, and Duckula's all like "Hey, I'm no fish, and I'm certainly not anybody's dinner!" And of course the very ending, and Duckula's reaction! OH- and the whole scene with Igor and Goosewing, and when Goosewing bursts the in mansion and screams "Got you now, you monster! And don't think you can fool me with that disguise, or make me any more confused than I already am! Because I know that all of you penguins are penguins... expect the one who's a duck!" LOL!!)
- Bloodsucking Fruitbats of the Lower Amazon (Fluffy-kins was just so cute, and Nanny had some great lines in this one. I particularly love how Igor tricks Duckula in the beginning! And of course the horror that was the whole tribe of Nannies (the Wakka-Tanna... the Wakka-Tanna-Nanna-Canna-Banna... ?? LOL), and how they were tickling Duckula's feet in his sleep. Best lines: "Language, please! This is a kid's show!" I also love how Duckula was arguing with Igor about who should be the first course for the Tribe.)

Gaston: Yes, ending with screams are often used, in some cases they are ok, in others no. This episode is an example of the latter. I want to see the two counts one in face of the other, and Igor's face when he discovers the truth! I want to see Nanny confused in choosing one of them! It would have been nice too to see what the false Duckula did after this adventure. Instead, we heard some screams and then goodbye out there, ecc..Many thanks, Mr Narrator!

It's more or less a rule of the show that each episode must start and eand with screaming, wailing or something which the narrator can describe as 'strange, disturbing sounds' but maybe it would've been nice to see Igor and Nanny doing some rapid double-takes the way that Cosgrove-Hall is good at (ie. rapid cutting from face to face)

Although, I have most of the series beyond Season 1 on my comp, there are some I'm stil missing... 'Count and the Pauper' being one of them, and one I've REALLY wanted to see for awhile now. It sounds awesome; I love parodies of Mark Twain's famous tale.
Yeah, there are times when the whole scream at the end just gets tiring to the point of annoying. I think they really overused it myself, even if Duckula is supposed to be an ever-failing, loser-type of character; and they also used it for the slightest little thing, like at the end of 'Alps-a-Daisy' when his little tantrum wasn't even necessary! Sometimes you just want to yell, "Oh, SHUT UP already!" at the screen. However, one example of how it really works well is at the end of 'Dear Diary'... cracks me up everytime! Same with 'Autoduck.'

Heellooo! My favourite episodes:
*Dear Diary: not that funny episode but a very interesting one, I love to met Duckula and Goosewing ancestors and how they became enemies.
*The Rest is History: in this we found out Duckula’s origins, how the problems started. Poor Duckula the First, he was so lovely!
*In Artic Circles: I love the interaction between Goosewing and Igor, that “Nine (9)-Ja” part LOL! In addition, the scenes in which Goosewing burst in at the ending, as Shy have already commented, are priceless! Note that in this episode Goosewing had, in fact, saved Duckula. Oh! And Duckula was close to his end in this one, fortunately, the vampire-blaster was run out of energy!
*One Stormy Night: very dark plot, Goosewing almost lost his head, literally!
*Dr. Goosewing and Mr. Duck: very hilarious episode, I like the part in which the intelligent Nanny and Igor were talking about philosophy and Nanny spoke in German!
*Dr. Von Goosewing's Invisible Ray: Goosewing was adorable in this one and when the ray mixed everybody up and then the whole ending were so amusing!
*Restoration Comedy: very entertaining! Specially the persecution scene of Duckula and Goosewing, and the part in which Duckula’s servants went on strike.
*A Family Reunion: nice to see more proper wampires here and that blood-tasting contest. Poor Duckula, he was so afraid of his own relatives that he had to join Goosewing in order to get rid of them. ;D
*The Incredible Shrinking Duck: I think this is the strangest episode; I love it, an absolute favourite.
*Rent a Butler: just very funny, I liked to see Goosewing hitting on the drag-dressed Duckula but the worst of it all was when the Count mentioned broccoli sandwiches and Goosewing answered: “when you said broccoli sandwiches you remained me of someone else!” (Kisses Duckula’s hand) Duckula: “Oh Doctor, I don’t know what you mean!” LOL

Ironically (or perhaps coincidentally) another pair of crow-like villains played by Jimmy and David (clever one and stupid one respectively) did another (but different) avalanche gag in 'No Yaks Please We're Tibetean' (which, incedentally, was broadcast on my brother's 5th birthday - 28th November 1989)

It was that guv. My favourite episode (at the moment) Although according to the credits on 'Mobile Home' another one of my faves it's spelt Burt. 'Puff, pant, puff, Milord...'
Oddly, 'The Count & the Pauper' was one of the few episodes I taped (on the same VHS tape as 'The Sooty Show') back when the original broadcast was made in 1989. Along with 'Blood-Sucking Fruit Bats of the Lower Amazon', 'Arctic Circles' Tansylvania Take-Away' and about 6 minutes of 'Whodunnit?'. I also got 'Ducknapped' although I think that was on the rerun next year, I forget. My grandparents taped 'Sawdust Ring' and my mum taped 'Jungle Duck' and my brother and I watched it when we were in bed ill (these habve since been lost). Strange the things you remebember. I even remeber where I watched each episode for the 1st time and where the telly was etc. Topic for a new thread perhaps?

Oh- and although it's not one of my actual *favorite* eps, the scene in 'Translyvanian Take-Away' where Gaston and Peirre shed their chef clothes, revealing their identity, and Peirre accidentally goes overboard and gets completetly naked was OMG, OMG- HILARIOUS beyond words! I just about died laughing when I first saw it last night, I even had tears in my eyes. My mom was like "Are you ok?" and I couldn't breath enough to answer her. (Then I got a bad case of hiccups, due to my laughing fit.) Best random scene in the whole series.
