I was browsing through the older posts and in one particular thred, Gaston was pondering on his childhood and Duckula's role in it. Anyway, I thought we could all get in on this... I saw Count Duckula in DM first, obviously but gradually became aware of his television spin-off, although I wasn't aware of how different the two incarnations were until I was familiar with the Count we know and love. I started at the top and worked my way through the series VERY slowly to start with. I had the theme tune on my iPod for a year from my sixteenth and I loved it. Finally, I got to see 'No Sax' (not being familiar with Youtube at the time) on my Danger Mouxe boxset and I loved it but it was only this year I got all three (or four) series on DVD. So, can you remember the first time you saw Count Duckula and can you recall your reaction...?

Great topic, BC! ;D Oh, it was so long ago... I have met this cute vampire fiend by the very first time when I was at elementary school. I recall changing the TV channels and then I saw the last scenes of ‘Restoration Comedy’ I believe, and I saw the ending credits. I loved the pictures and the song, ha ha ha! I remember that as I was listening to the song, I said something like “No, I don’t fear Duckula, but that Igor is scary!” Next day, Duckula wasn’t on local channels anymore. I had to wait about 3 years or so to meet him again. When I was at first year of high school, I begun to develop an interest for vampires and other dark themes, received Dracula novel as gift, I liked to read about mysterious topics, and of course, cable TV arrived to my Country. Finally I was able to watch all the series, the first ep I watch this time was ‘Vampire Vacation’ guess what? I fell in love with Von Goosewing! The series was on air about two years. Then, the vampire escaped away from me, but I never forget his awesome show, I used to say quotes from it, and still use them. Some years recently, the local channel had it on air at random, so I was frantically always trying to catch it on my old VHS, until the day I found that in a new music/DVD store on my City had, as a rarity, the DVD of the first season! A real miracle! Soon, it was released here the DVD of the complete series in both Spanish and English... And well, the rest is history! ;D

The very first time was back in the early 90s, on the Canadian kid's network YTV. I think I'd caught the last few minutes of an ep- I remember wondering what happened to Nanny's arm, and why she called the Count 'Ducky-boos'- and then the ending credits came on. They just INTRIGUED me; I was freaked-out yet fascinated at the same time!
From then on, whenever I would watch the credits- which is pretty much the only thing I really remember from watching it back then, aside from Nanny- I no longer found them scary, but bloody hilarious! Go figure!

I honestly can't remember my first reactions to the show. =0 But I do remember first seeing it on Nick UK back when we had cable set up in the house we used to live in up until I was 9. I wasbout about 7 or 8 then, definitely 1995. I definitely remember seeing One Stormy Night, Restoration Comedy and Alps a Daisy, but most of the time I couldn't watch it because it was on at the weekends and my nan didn't have cable then; that and school.
Man if you've ever been there when I had tantrums over missing my fave Nick shows... >,<

I remember hearing about the show as it was plugged a fair bit and I was aware that it was in some way connected to Danger Mouse. My Mum said 'why are you watching this?' as it was starting to which I replied something along the lines of 'It's made by the Danger Mouse folk, I think it'll be worth a try' I was not wrong.
I saw the original Childrens' ITV run from the first episode (though obviously idid miss a couple, but not many!) and never knew anything about Nickelodeon but I did catch the Sky 1 repeats about 12 years later and taped 'em. I even taped a few from the original CITV run. I can remember where the telly was situated for each episode.

Used to watch Dangermouse as a kid alot waaaay back when I was about 6 onwards I guess, Ducks came up of course in the series. I may have started watching right from the start when it first aired on CITV.....I probably did cos I used to watch childrens TV after school religiously (BBC1 and ITV) haha and knew what was on to the exact day. Ducks probably came along one day and I watched it, but I never saw all of them, as a kid you werent that focused to watch everyone lol

I remember vaguely about my first encounter about Count Duckula, to be honest. I remember that every day, after coming home from school when I was about 8/ 9, I would watch tons of cartoons that are on TV. One would be Danger Mouse and the other Duckula. Duckula really caught my attention, since the whole idea of a vegeterian vampire intrigued me. I fell in love with this cartoon. The one episode that caught my attention the most would have to be "Restoration Comedy" (especially the scene where Duckula didn't have a reflection). Years went by, and I had almost completely forgotten about Duckula until one day I found out that the series are on DVD. Remembering how I enjoyed the cartoon when I was little, I ordered the DVDs for series 1-3 (and the DangerMouse 25th Anni. as well). And from then on in, I became a huge Duckula fangirl

Heh, everyone else saw it when it aired on TV. I only saw it when I got the Vampire Vacation DVD a few years ago.

I really only very recently got into Duckula and it is all soley thanks to Baphmet. She recalled it from her childhood, quite a while before she introduced me into it. I had been on rather a Darkwing Duck kick at the time, and she suggested to me that we try out this other fascinating show, this one about a vampire duck. Knowing my tastes so well, she thought I might rather like the butler of the series Little did she know the monster she was creating xDD Pretty soon poor old DW was kicked out the window (I still love the show, but Launchpad makes me want to blow his dratted brains out with all those friggin puns) And we were watching the magnificent Count Duckula more and more and more. Such brilliance! Such wit! Such brutality nonfriendly kid things! And thus.... I was smitten 83 <3 <3 The first episode I ever saw was Alps-a-Daisy, followed shortly by Vampire Vacation. Igor REALLY grew on me when soon after that we watched the Diary episode. There was no turning back then xD So yeah, seriously it's been less than a year. I am QUITE new to the Duckula world, really. But now, I can't imagine how I ever got on without it <3 How did I survive 21 years of my life without Igor? xD HOW?! So all my love and thanks to Baphmet for changing everything 83

I'm pretty sure I watched the show as a child, but I remember next to nothing about it. Mainly just images of Igor and Nanny, and the picture of Castle Duckula in the opening credits. It's so weird to me. So no, I don't remember the first time I watched it, unfortunately. But I got into it as an adult only a month ago. I actually came across a rpg account of Duckula on myspace, lol, and it piqued my interest. Next thing I knew, I was searching for episodes, and watched Dear Diary first. I watched another episode and another, and next thing I knew I had fallen completely in love with it, haha. So I'm also quite new to the Duckula world, but I also can't help wondering how I got through however many years without it. I can already tell this show will last as one of my absolute favorite ever shows. <3

lol, this doesn't really have much to do with the first time of watching Duckula, aside from the fact that I'm starting to introduce my nephew to it. This happened like, thirty seconds ago - Hilarity ensues : My nephew saw my Igor wallpaper, and asked who he was. I told him he came from a show that's looong before his time, and indeed, very nearly almost before mine. I told him it was Igor, and that Duckula was possibly the greatest show ever created (It's no exaggeration to me, lol) His response? 'Like... Even better than Naruto?' I just laughed Ha ha YES IT IS BETTER THAT FRIGGIN NARUTO xD

I just saw Count Duckula recently for the first time. I was looking on Wikipedia at a list of cartoons from the '80s, and I saw that this show was on the list. Since for some reason I like vampires (No, seriously, I don't know why I got into that interest), I decided to take a look. The premise of the show looked interesting, so I looked on YouTube to see if there were any videos of the show. Oh, man! Do I remember my reaction when I first saw the theme song. At the beginning I thought, "Wow, this definitely has the horror element in it, more than 'Courage the Cowardly Dog'. Then when I heard the actual song, I was like, "What? Wow, that was unexpected! How awesome is that? It's totally '80s!" And so, here I am today, already an obsessed fan who looks for pictures and videos wherever I can and wishing I could get some of the original merchandise.

Is very interesting, funny but it always has this dark background, lots of black humour!
